Any topic (writer’s choice)

you have read, theory guides the conceptualization of the clients problem and how social workers assess and intervene relative to the problem. However, theory can also shape the self-reflective questions social workers ask themselves. Clients often come to social workers under stress or distress. This then affects how the social worker responds and thus the client-social worker relationship. As a result, Foley, Nash, and Munford (2009) employed attachment theory as a lens in which to view the reflective process itself and to gain greater understanding and empathy for what each social worker within each unique social work-client relationship can access of that relationship for reflection (pp. 44).

This week, you will apply attachment theory to the case study you chose in Week 2. In other words, your theoretical orientationor lensis attachment theory as you analyze the case study.

To prepare:

Review the same case study you selected from last weeks Assignment. (Remember, you will be using this same case study throughout the entire course). Use the Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study worksheet to help you dissect the theory. You do not need to submit this handout. It is a tool for you to use to dissect the theory, and then you can employ the information in the table to complete your assignment.
Review attachment theory and the following article listed in the Learning Resources: Foley, M., Nash, M., & Munford, R. (2009). Bringing practice into theory: Reflective practice and attachment theory. Aotearoa New Zealand Social Work Review, 21(1/2), p3947. Retrieved http://dx.doi.org/10.11157/anzswj-vol21iss1-2id318
By Day 7
Submit a 1- to 2-page case write-up that addresses the following:

Summarize the assumptions of attachment theory in 2 to 3 sentences.
Identify the problem in your chosen case study to be worked on from an attachment theory perspective.
Explain how attachment theory defines and explains the cause of the problem in one to two sentences.
Develop two assessment questions that are guided by attachment theory that you would ask the client to understand how the stress or distress is affecting the client.
Discuss two interventions to address the problem. Remember, the theory should be driving the interventions. In other words, you would not identify systematic desensitization since this is not an intervention guided by attachment theory.
Formulate one self-reflective question that is influenced by attachment theory that you can ask yourself to gain greater empathy for what the client is experiencing.
Explain which outcomes you could measure to evaluate client progress based theory.
Be sure to:

Identify and correctly reference the case study you have chosen.
Use literature to support your claims.
Use APA formatting and style.
Remember to double-space your paper.

Effective Questioning

In order to engage students in mathematics instruction, teachers use a variety of questioning strategies. It is crucial to have a variety of questioning strategies along with solutions to potential roadblocks that can occur during instruction.

Part 1: Questioning Strategies Template

For this assignment, select a K-8 grade level and a state standard in the area of algebra, and develop aligned learning objectives. Examine a variety of questioning strategies that foster innovation and problem solving in order to complete the Math Questioning Strategies template. The questions you create should connect concepts, procedures, and applications from algebra, activating prior knowledge for the lesson, and encourage exploration and problem solving.

The Math Questioning Strategies template includes:

  • Math standard in the area of algebra, grade level, and learning objectives.
  • Five probing questions that are directly aligned to the math standard and are used as pre-assessment and formative assessment questions.

Part 2: Reflection

In 250-500 words, provide a reflection that explains how using questioning strategies builds on prior instructional sessions, encourages student content exploration, and develops problem solving strategies. How are questioning strategies used as a guide to determine appropriateness of instructional resources and curriculum materials in order to adapt instruction?

Support your reflection with at least two scholarly resources.

While APA format is not required for this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Refer to the  for assistance.

Event reflection paper

I want you to write a 1-page summary and analysis of the event. What was the event? What did you learn from it?

The event I attended was “Honoring Black & Indigenous Resistance in Honduras: A Guest Talk with Afro-Indigenous Human Rights Defender Melissa Cardoza” .

INVITATION: In honor of Black History month, UNICA invites you to a talk by afro-indigenous Garifuna and Lenca journalist, poet, writer, and feminist organizer Melissa Cardoza who will speak on her most recent book 13 Colors of the Honduras Resistance. This event is open and free to students and community interested in learning more about the struggle of black and indigenous communities in Honduras and Central America from a feminist perspective.

ABOUT THE SPEAKR: Melissa Cardoza is a journalist, poet, writer and feminist organizer from Honduras. She is of mixed Afro-indigenous Garfuna and indigenous Lenca heritage and has worked extensively with feminist and lesbian artivist collectives throughout Latin America and the United States. In the aftermath of the coup dtat in Honduras (2009), and as part of a national network of human rights defenders, she is a vital voice in the Honduran resistance movement which includes protecting and demanding justice for women, LGBTQIA, afro-indigenous, rural, and working class Hondurans, as well as activist, journalists and other professionals that are being targeted by the current Presidential administration. Her book of poems, 13 Colores de la Resistencia Hondurea [13 Colors of the Honduran Resistance] addresses this ongoing struggle that continues to be extremely relevant and urgent. The heart of her work continues to center women, feminists and lesbians struggles represented in her wonderful childrens book Tengo una ta que no es monjita [I have an aunt who is not a nun] that lovingly and playfully assists parents in raising the social consciousness of their children (or their own) on the diversity and acceptance of genders and sexualities.

The even was held by Spanish so I needed the translator. I attach what she talked about and she also talked about her book “13 Colors of the Honduran Resistance”. I can’t provide you much information but I want you to expand these as much as possible.
For the last sentence, i want you to mention I didn’t understand Spanish so I needed the translator but her words inspired me. something like this.
Thank you!

Edaward Snowden

 7. Edward Snowden, traitor or hero? Edward Snowden was a contractor for the NSA and a former employee of the CIA. Snowden released thousands, if not millions of documents proving that various American intelligence agencies  were violating their charters if not actually violating laws by gathering telephone conversations, emails, messages and various other communications of American citizens. Some people believe that Edward Snowden is a whistle blower against the super-secret intelligence agencies by leaking those documents. Other people believe Snowden is a traitor for violating American laws and fleeing to Russia in order to claim asylum and remain out of prison. Develop a hypothesis as to whether Snowden is a whistle-blower or a traitor and support that hypothesis with research.

Minimum of 7 to 8 pages and 6 references. The page count does not include title page and reference pages.  Please use the 7th ed. APA student paper formatting for your research papers.  Be sure you have an introduction and a summary with appropriate topics in between.  One final note, I do not like direct quotes (copy and paste) from your sources.  You should research your topic, read the references and then paraphrase your sources.  You are still required to cite your sources.  Every reference requires a citation within the body of the paper and every citation requires a reference.

Patient Resources

Having noted that more and more patients seek medical advice via the internet, the leadership for Valley Regional Hospital decided to publish a guide for patients that lists recommended Web sites and other resources. Consider how this plan may impact patient safety and security safeguards. Decide whether you would support the plan, and write a post in which you respond according to your view.

If you do not support this plan, what do you find problematic about it? How would you convince hospital leadership to drop this idea?
If you do support this plan, how would you determine which sites to recommend?

Instructions:

1.Please view BETTER LUCK TOMORROW, directed by Justin Lin (if you want to watch the film via another method than going to the library, please feel free).
2.Take Notes.
3.Consider the Discussion Questions listed on the attached pdf.
4.Read what Robert Ebert wrote about BETTER LUCK TOMORROW.

Please read famed film critic, Roger Eberts essay, about the controversial screening of BETTER LUCK TOMORROW at the Sundance Film Festival, which was captured in the short film you viewed last week, BLT: GENESIS. You can also read his review of BETTER LUCK TOMORROW. Please know that (like Pauline Kael and Andrew Sarris before him and perhaps Elvis Mitchell after him ~ google them!), Roger Ebert has been one of the most influential people in film culture. He was not only a journalist as well as co-host of a television series which brought film criticism to a mass audience, he became an advocate for independent filmmaking by people of color in particular. He was an incisive writer and a thoughtful humanitarian. Rogert Ebert sadly passed away in 2013, his wife, Chaz Ebert, continues his work and website.

Excerpt:

Amoral, yes. Shockingly. He seems to exist in a world of achievement and ambition that operates entirely apart from moral values. Another audience member drew a parallel with Enron executives who apparently concealed the fact that their numbers didn’t add up. Justin Lin said he senses a moral disconnect in some of today’s teenagers and wanted to make a movie about it. His cast was all Asian-American because–well, why not?

https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/better-luck-tomorrow-2003

Excerpts:

“Better Luck Tomorrow” is a coming-of-age film for Asian Americans in American cinema. Like African-American films that take race for granted and get on with the characters and the story, Lin is making a movie where race is not the point but simply the given. After Ben joins the basketball team, a writer for the high school paper suggests he is the “token Asian” bench-warmer, and when students form a cheering section for him, he quits the team in disgust. He is not a token anything (and privately knows he has beaten the NBA record for free throws).

The story is insidious in the way it moves stealthily into darker waters while maintaining the surface of a high school comedy. There are jokes and the usual romantic breakthroughs and reversals, and the progress of their criminal career seems unplanned and offhand, until it turns dangerous. I will not reveal the names of the key characters in the climactic scene, but note carefully what happens in terms of the story; perhaps the film is revealing that a bland exterior can hide seething resentment.

Justin Lin, who directed, co-wrote and co-produced, here reveals himself as a skilled and sure director, a rising star. His film looks as glossy and expensive as a megamillion studio production, and the fact that its budget was limited means that his cinematographer, Patrice Lucien Cochet; his art director, Yoo Jung Han, and the other members of his crew were very able and resourceful. It’s one thing to get an expensive look with money and another thing to get it with talent.

Lin keeps a sure hand on tricky material; he has obvious confidence about where he wants to go and how he wants to get there. His film is uncompromising and doesn’t chicken out with a U-turn ending.
