What is it to be ethical?

What is it to be ethical?  Does Epicurus give a sufficient account of being moral, or must more be added?  [What we call ethics are here defined as being the same thing as morality, the subject Ethics, the same as Moral Philosophy, etc.  Students are to avoid ruminations on differences between ethical and moral, etc., and get to the actual topic assigned. Avoid outside research that takes you to hazy ruminations on the meaning of ‘ethics’ or ‘morals,’ and just get down to offering a specific ethical theory in the manner of Socrates, Epicurus, Kant, or other figures in the course. Make sure you have a strong thesis statement. Place your thesis statement in the first paragraph of your paper.  I advise, making it the first sentence.  Use ‘and,’ commands and semi-colons, etc., to fit all the thesis ideas into one, grammatical-sentence. Course textbook is called Classics of western philosophy, Steven Cahn, 8th Edition. Hackett Publishing. Print version recommended but you could use a PDF.
